Location

Explore one of the most picturesque destinations in Australia with an itinerary that incorporates some of Tasmania's best and most stunning scenery in The Bay of Fires. Over the course of this epic 4 day adventure, you'll come across some premier examples of the diversity that makes Tasmania such a visually impressive state. You'll see sights such as breathtaking beaches colliding with ruggedly beautiful rock formations jutting out towards the sky, while crystal-clear waters add a vibrant blue glow.

This Bay of Fires walk aims to encompass everything that makes the region great. Starting off at Launceston you'll be taken via transfer to the walk base to commence the journey into the amazing Mt William National Park taking in the local spectacles of Scottsdale and Derby, walking at Boulder Point and admiring the views of the Bass Strait Islands before stopping for lunch and spending the evening at Forester Beach Camp. Day two sees you exploring the Bay of Fires coastline with its multitude of sand dunes, marsupial-rich lawns and lunch behind Eddystone Point Lighthouse. Take the afternoon to explore the beaches and coves before enjoying afternoon tea and relaxing at the Bay of Fires Lodge with hand-prepared local meals.

Day three allows you a free day to enjoy the area, with bird watching, coastal scenery, kayaking and more all possibilities for the day. Go fishing, search for wildlife and plenty of other activities before taking in the star-filled night sky. Kick day four off with breakfast at the lodge, perhaps followed by a morning swim, before beginning your return to Launceston via a track that includes eucalypt forests and coastal land. After lunch, you'll stop at Dr Andrew Pririe's vineyard before heading back towards Launceston.

Additional Information

  • Each trip requires a minimum of four and a maximum of ten guests on each departure. All accommodation is twin share.
  • How fit do I need to be? As long as you exercise regularly and are capable of walking 10km for six days over varied terrain, you’ll be fine! Obviously there are steep sections; however, this is part of the whole experience. Each day there is plenty of time to sit and rest as well as exploring, so you won’t feel rushed.
  • Before the trip, the guides will carry out a thorough check to ensure you have suitable gear. Usually packs weigh between 8.5-9.5kgs but ultimately your pack and contents can weigh as little as 7.5kgs.
  • What do we carry? Each person must carry their lunch, wet weather gear, spare clothes for the hut, thermals, and warm clothing, plus any extras such as a camera
  • We strongly recommend travel insurance. Consideration needs to be given to our cancellation policy, injury, evacuation, delayed flights, illness, etc.
  • The guides prepare scrumptious three-course meals each night. We are quite happy to cater for special dietary requirements, we just need to know in advance
  • All accommodation is twin share. We will endeavour to ensure that single travellers will share with the same gender; however this cannot be guaranteed as it will be determined by the makeup of the group. If a single room is demanded, a supplementary price of 75% of full fee will apply. This needs to be stipulated at the time of booking
  • Walkers are required to wear lace up walking boots which have ankle support and treaded soles. New boots must be worn in. Waterproof or water resistant boots are recommended. Walking shoes, sand shoes and similar footwear are not acceptable
  • Arriving on the day of departure for either walk with inappropriate footwear will result in forfeiting your walk without refund
